We had a very enjoyable first day.  It was just a short drive from LAX to Desert Hot Springs.  We spent some time with friends Rocky and Lanita.  We saw Rocky’s home for the first time and enjoyed his extensive collection of comic book action figures.  We had lunch in Palm Springs and walked along the strip. They sent us off with a little “John’s Apple Pie”.  In the late afternoon we made another short trip down the freeway to Indio, for a visit with Bruce and Betty.  They arranged to let us stay on a “buddy pad” in there complex.  What a great spot.  Enjoyed dinner and conversation.
